Lesson to be learnt

Its not an easy task to become a good teacher, someone whose students will look up to you, and the most crucial part "RESPECT". Sounds like Aretha Franklin 80s hit huh! I went back to both the Primary5 and Primary 3 classes today.

The moment i stepped into the class, they were like "Hello, Mr Fu, Hello Mr Fu". Anyway, the p3 class was the worst to handle for the day, as there's too many hiccups in between. I had 4 periods with them, had some fun going through the science worksheet, and explaing the details.

However, lessons would not be too hard to handle if the periods were allocated before recess or after school. You can just grab hold of this opportunity to say "No recess for you all" or "Stay back after school". Well.....

"No recess for you" = Starvation and death. hahahaha!

"Stay back after school" = which kid doesn't want to go home? Right?

The above method was successfully coupled with the highly commendable method which my secondary school teacher Miss Soh used on my class - The 5 strokes silence. Very useful indeed.

The mathematics period was the worst. Because 2 students were fighting, 1 crying out loud for being bullied. The other (the kid whom i met at the bus stop yesterday - read previous entry), declaring a war with me, by sitting on the floor, not moving a single inch of his ass, no matter how nicely i talked to him. My patient was kinda limited and I ended up yelling at him. He moved yet relunctantly back onto his chair. The whole class just gets on my nerve and I nearly slipped "SHUT UP"/"Keep your mouth shut" out from my mouth. Bearing in mind these words are forbidden.

There's still a lot to learn. I hope to be more organise, though some of my friends always said how well organised I am. I had silently agreed (sounds cocky) but until I stepped into this part-time job, I realised, "NO I AM NOT". I had a hard time ensuring that everyone submit their homework. Coz later when I started counting in the staff room, I realised there were so many students who didn't handed up their work. Failure! I'm still thinking of a better method to ensure everyone would submit on time.

If ever comes a day when teaching becomes a career for me, I wish to be an amiable teacher, yet earning full respect, in the sense that when its time for work, they work, and when its time to play, i'll play with them. You know, its just so hard to become the PERFECT teacher in every students dream. Maybe it can be acheived if I work in a student's perspective?? =(

Thats all for today. Tiring yet valuable and precious key lessons that I've learnt to know more about myself. Good night.
